Tremendous Tongan Kiekie!

Kia ora!

Today in Toroa class we were learning about Tonga for the Summer Learning Journey, I designed a Kiekie. First we had to read an artical about  Kiekie and watched some cool videos about them too! A Kiekie is a traditional  peice of clothing that they wear for semiformal occasions.  The story of how they came to be  was when they were sailing to meet their king and their previous clothing wasn’t appropriat so they used the material from the sail  of the boat  to make a Kiekie. The king agreed with the peice of clothing and made it a traditional everday wear. Something I found very challenging was looking for a good design, I wanted my design to look traditional but still have my own patterns. Next time I would make some other patterns. Here is My kiekie!

Have you ever heard of a Kiekie?

Golden Groovy Pizza!

Kia Ora

This week with Michelle we are doing the Summer Learning Journey I decided to do Groovy Pizza because I’ve always wanted to make music but first we had to  sign and then we got to create! Something I found very challenging is trying to create a beat to decide on. It was very fun playing around with diffent instruments and making our own album cover.

Have you ever experienced making music?

here is my music and album cover.

Suspicious Scams!

Kia Ora

this week we  are learning about scamming, catfishing and pop-ups with Michelle. First we watched  some videos about it, then we made an infographic about  how to be safe and some tips to prevent you from being  scammed catfished or seeing pop-ups. I did an infographic about scamming. I found it hard to choose a background colour, my favourite part was looking  for the picture to match the text. Next time I would choose a different colour for my Word Art title. Have you experienced scamming?

Collaborative Docs

Kia Ora,

Today  we were learning about collaborative docs with Michelle, I’m going to tell you how we did it. First we got paired with a buddy, next we had to see who was the youngest the youngest had to make a copy and share it to the oldest. After that we had to name it, next we played 5 rounds of tic tac toe. Finally we had to do a collaborative story, a collaborative story is were you  take turns in writing a word for example you type the word ‘Once’ and the other person said   ‘upon’ and so on. I found the collaborative story challenging because you didn’t know what story the other person  wanted to do and it  kept on going different ways and sometimes when you read it it doesn’t make sense then you can’t change it. My favourite part was the tic tac toe even though I didn’t win. I found it fun working with people I normally don’t  work with.

How do you think you  would you go if you did a collaborative doc?

Here are some pictures of the doc!

My Around the World Journey

https://earth.google.com/web/data=MkEKPwo9CiExdDZKQjdPSkRJckpFZE1ER250aElaTEZoQ3ppejVkdlMSFgoU

This week we were learning about google earth. We were learning about how to make a project. We had to include all continents Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe and Australasia. We had to think of a country and a place  in each continent. I found it hard to think of what county to put in. Next time I think I need to keep track of what countries I have because I put the same country in twice. My favourite part was when you put it on presentation, I liked watching my journey. The link to my presentation is at the top.

Nifty Notan Art!

This week we have been focusing on copyright we learned that every time you get something like an image off google there is copyright tool for all the things that aren’t copyright, so you can use them we aslo learned that we have to let from the owner before asking the person using it . To learn about copyright we did a digital  art called Notan, Notan is a Japaness art  that expresses negitave and positive space  the Notan art was small square that you could decorate but you had to use the flip tool and other things to make different shapes. You had to put some shapes on the outside. The tricky part of Notan was when you had to think of what design you wanted to do I did a landscape, the easy part was  fliping the shape to make them symmetrical. Next time I would do a different design.

Have you heard of Notan art?

My Personal and Private Pick a Path

This week we learned about sharing information online  and what are good, bad, private and personal post. For example if you share a photo of someone in your family you need to get permition,  and  you need to think about if your post is personal or private. I enjoyed making this Pick A Path to help me understand the meaning of sharing information online. Have you made A Pick A Path before?

My Memorable Musical Block Name

A few weeks ago for CyberSmart we did a name song, on an app named Music Lab.

It is an app with a lot of activities to do with creating music. I learned how to create music and I’ve never done it before. We got to choose how to write our name and after we did our name we got to go freestyle and do whatever we wanted to do.

On Music Lab there were different types of musical instruments like synth, drums, guitar and tropical drums. This was important because say if you have never made music and your dream is to make music, then you wouldn’t know how to. It was challenging to try and think of what I could do for freestyle. My next step is try and create an amazing freestyle beat. Click here for my name song link. Do you have any suggestions for my freestyle beat?
